In the tiny hamlet of Greendale, with views of the Wasdale Screes and a short walk from the shores of Wast Water, this comfortable cottage is in a stunning location. Wasdale is probably Lakeland’s most unspoilt and most spectacular valley, with the lake, the dramatic screes and the peaks of Pillar, Great Gable and the Scafells surrounding Wasdale Head. The sandy beach at Seascale is just 15 minutes drive. This is a walker’s paradise but if you don’t want to walk, enjoy the peace and admire the view.

Around and About
Wasdale is a magnificent unspoiled corner of the Lake District, where the dramatic Screes plunge into waters of the lake with England’s highest mountains looking down. Truly a walker’s paradise, but there are pleasant lakeside walks as well as the more challenging fell tops. Other local tourist attractions include Muncaster Castle, the scenic Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and Hardknott Roman Fort. Two miles away, Nether Wasdale has two excellent pubs and is a gentle stroll across the fields. There are pubs and shops in nearby Gosforth, and a little further Seascale has an wonderful sandy beach. But above all, Wasdale is all about the lake, the screes and the mountains -
What Our Guests Say
“The cottage is brilliant, a fantastic place to walk from and the car is not essential if one chooses not to drive. This we believe is our 6th visit and though the cottage has changed owners last year it remains the best we have ever stayed in. It has everything one could wish for and what a view to greet one each morning – wonderful!” Dennis and Magda.
“Can we just say how much we loved this cottage -
“This location is so magical that we didn’t go anywhere except to Gosforth for essential supplies. We were entranced by the family of swallows in the front porch, and the woodpeckers and yellow-
“Another enjoyable holiday at Roan Wood, a splendid place and now even better with its improvements. We were sad to depart, and although we have booked to visit again in the spring it seems a long way off”. Anne and John.
“We had a wonderful week here and wish we could stay for a month. The cottage is lovely and very well equipped and right in the heart of an area of outstanding beauty”. Chris and Valerie, Australia.
“The cottage is everything we wished for: clean, comfortable, also a fantastic location. The lake, the falls and hills are amazing and our dog would love to stay forever. We will definitely come back”. Jen, Becky, Greg and Sam the dog.
